FC Dynamo Kyiv faced FC Vorskla Poltava at the NSC Olimpiyskyi within the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 26.

The White-Blues caretaker manager Serhiy Rebrov had three days after the game against FC Shakhtar Donetsk to prepare the team for the next fixture.

Rebrov made three substitutions in the starting lineup comparing to the previous match. Maxym Koval was keeping the goal while Younes Belhanda and Oleh Husiev featured in the midfield instead of Serhiy Sydorchuk and Jeremain Lens.

Game aspects

Position in standings leaves no compromises for Dynamo. Wins in every game left till the end of the season are vital for Kyivans.

23 minutes into the game Mbokani has a good scoring chance. Husiev took the free kick, put a cross into the box and Congolese forward hit the bar with a header!

The White-Blues attacked a lot, but as they couldn’t use their chances Vorskla taught them a good lesson.

Tursunov found Jahovic with a long ball in Dynamo penalty area and Adis hit the far corner with one touch shot.

After the break supporters didn’t see home side active efforts necessary equalize. There were too many inaccurate passes, so Kyivans had few chances.

Jeremain Lens and Brown Ideye took the field to enforce the team and Vorskla midfielder Dedechko was sent off for two bookings.

83 minutes into the match Yarmolenko assisted Ideye, who scored from six-yard box and two minutes later Andriy netted the decider. He hit the far bottom corner from outside the penalty area.

Dynamo: change of task

This week the White-Blues suffered 0:2 defeat against FC Shakhtar Donetsk within the UPL matchday 19.

Ambitions. Kyivans have lost real chances to struggle for Premiership or at least for second Champions League spot. Now the White-Blues must make the top three. Their main competitor are FC Metalist Kharkiv.

Strength. Attack is Dynamo trump card today. Kyivans have already scored 46 goals within the UPL this season (second best result). The main attacking force of the team is presented by Andriy Yarmolenko (10 goals) and Dieumerci Mbokani (13 goals).

Weakness. Defense is Dynamo heel of Achilles. The White-Blues opponents hit their target 28 times this season.

Special moment. Home defeat against FC Shakhtar Donetsk reached the end of Ihor Surkis’ tether and he fired the head coach of the team Oleh Blokhin. Serhiy Rebrov will be the caretaker manager till the end of the season.

According to Rebrov Dynamo must maintain reputation no matter what.

Injuries. Olexandr Shovkovskyi, Yevhen Khacheridi and Miguel are recovering from injuries.

Vorskla: unity is power

Vorskla had a planned preparation for the match in Kyiv as they didn’t have to play in the middle of the week.

Ambitions. Having defeated FC Shakhtar Donetsk within the matchday 25 (1:0) Poltava side proved that they’ll struggle for the fifth place till the end.

Strength. FC Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Mircea Lucescu has given the best characteristics to Vorskla best qualities: “In modern football orderly play and dedication are above all. Vorskla defeated us due to these qualities”.

Weakness. Vorskla have few performers to enforce the team when necessary.

Injuries. Vorskla don’t have a problem of injured players.

Suspensions. 24-year-old Vorskla halfback Artem Hromov will skip the game as he’s got three-match suspension.

Quotations. Vorskla head coach Vasyl Sachko: “I’m still learning. At the moment result is above all. On the other hand worthy play is vital”.

Forward Adis Jahovic (pictured): “The fact that Dynamo have got new coach doesn’t becalm us. We must be focused on every aspect of play. Last time we faced Kyivans it seemed that win was in our hands, but we conceded late in the second half.”
