FC Dynamo Kyiv faced FC Karpaty Lviv away within the UPL matchday 25.

Before this fixture both sides’ supporters played the unity match at Arena Lviv.

Oleh Blokhin decided to solve problems with defense with a help of Yevhen Selin, who featured as centre back alongside Domagoj Vida.

Danilo Silva and Yevhen Makarenko played as wing backs and Olexandr Rybka was keeping the goal. Denys Harmash, Serhiy Sydorchuk and Miguel performed in the midfield. Wingers were Andriy Yarmolenko and Jeremain Lens and finisher – Dieumerci Mbokani.

Game aspects

Both teams started the game in an unhurried manner. Andriy Yarmolenko had the first chance to open the score. He unleashed the shot from an unpromising angle, but missed the far bottom corner.

25 minutes into the match home side defender Kostevych put a cross into Dynamo box, Vida and Selin didn’t clear the ball, Fedorchuk obtained it and shot, but Selin managed to block his attempt. Right after that Hladkyi tried to head the ball in, but hit the bar.

These episodes made Kyivans play more actively. 32 minutes into the game Jeremain Lens assisted Miguel, who hit the upper V with a spectacular shot!

Dynamo could double the score quickly, but Yarmolenko failed to do that in one-on-one situation.

Karpaty netted the equalizer right after the break. Rybka didn’t manage to take the ball after Bartulović’s shot and Fedorchuk hit the open goal.

62 minutes into the match Mbokani slotted his team ahead. Danilo Silva put a cross into the box and Dieumerci headed the ball in – 1:2!

Still home side equalized again. Olexandr Hladkyi scored from really tight angle…

It was gratifying for the White-Blues supporters that Oleh Husiev took the field several minutes before the time.

Key episode

90 minutes into the match Dynamo started a good attack and eventually Dieumerci Mbokani unleashed the shot from inside the box, but Karpaty keeper Pidkivka cleared the ball.

Top persons

Home side 18-yead-old goalkeeper Roman Pidkivka was the best player of the match.

As for Dynamo, special attention should be paid to Miguel, who scored a fabulous goal in the first half.

Anyway top persons of the game were supporters at Ukraine Stadium. They were Karpaty true 12th player. The White-Blues also had good support, but unfortunately players didn’t manage to gladden their fans.

On April 12 FC Dynamo Kyiv will face FC Karpaty Lviv away within the UPL matchday 25.

The game will start at 16:00 at Ukraine Stadium.

Dynamo: when every match is the most important

After defeat against FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk Kyivans got back on winning track as they were victorious over FC Metalist Kharkiv.

Away fixture against Karpaty will be a preliminary to long-awaited match against FC Shakhtar Donetsk. Still it doesn’t down-grade the importance of the game in Lviv and players understand that.

According to Andriy Yarmolenko Kyivans don’t have a right for mistake in every match left till the end of the season.

Dynamo skipper Olexandr Shovkovskyi has stated: “We must move from match to match. The outcome of every game is of great importance to us. Every following fixture is the most important”.

Oleh Blokhin is likely to have even more difficulties with squad matters in Lviv than he had as the White-Blues defeated Metalist in Kyiv.

Centre backs Yevhen Khacheridi and Aleksandar Dragovic keep recovering from injuries. Coaching staff can’t count upon Ognjen Vukojevic, who was sent off in the previous match.

It’s questionable whether Brown Ideye will take the field as he has problems with his heel. Still there’s also good news: Oleh Husiev has got back to training sessions.

Younes Belhanda won’t feature against Karpaty because of suspension.

Karpaty: to regain confidence

FC Karpaty Lviv have won only one match and lost three in the second part of current season.

In the previous game Olexandr Sevydov’s men suffered 3:0 defeat against FC Shakhtar Donetsk away. After the match the Green-White head coach was upset, but not surprised with final score.

At the moment Karpaty are 10th in the UPL standings (W-5, D-7, L-8).

It’s well-known that Lviv side can offer any team battle at their home arena. Still this season they’ve already lost five home matches.

During the winter break Karpaty signed halfback Yuriy Habovda and strikers Mykhailo Serhiychuk and Leonid Koval, who eventually joined the team despite the scandal between the club and Premier League.
