FC Dynamo Kyiv faced FC Metalist Kharkiv within the Ukrainian Premier League matchday 24.

Both sides lost their previous matches which made their face-to-face duel very intriguing.

High value of win and squad problems caused the White-Blues head coach Oleh Blokhin problems. Yevhen Khacheridi, Aleksandar Dragovic, Brown Ideye and Oleh Husiev couldn’t take the field because of injuries. Eventually Domagoj Vida and Ognjen Vukojevic played as centre backs, Jeremain Lens – as winger and Dieumerci Mbokani – as finisher. Younes Belhanda was among first eleven again.

Game aspects

8 minutes into the match Denys Harmash opened the score. Danilo Silva put a cross into the box, Metalist keeper Horiainov caught the ball at first, but then spilled it and Harmash hit the open goal.

Metalist scored the equalizer 26 minutes into the first half. Edmar hit the upper V from outside the penalty area.

Several minutes before the break Horiainov parried Yarmolenko’s shot, Andriy obtained the ball and found Belhanda. Younes hit the far corner with a spectacular shot – 2:1.

Second half was also very intense. Homeniuk, who made a substitute appearance, scored after the low cross from Gomez – 2:2.

Ten minutes before the time Metalist player fouled against Harmash inside the penalty area and Yarmolenko scored from the spot. 87 minutes into the match Mbokani took a solo effort and hit the target from 15-meter distance. That was his 12th goal of the season in the UPL!

It should be also mentioned that Yevhen Selin took the field in a stoppage time.

Key episode

After Yarmolenko’s goal visitors tried to equalize the score for the third time, but Dieumerci Mbokani dashed their hopes to the ground.

Top person

Denys Harmash played very effectively. He opened the score, got the yellow card and besides referee awarded penalty for Dynamo for the foul against him. It seems that Denys is reconditioning after a long break.

On April 6 FC Dynamo Kyiv will face FC Metalist Kharkiv at the NSC Olimpiyskyi within the UPL matchday 24.

The game will start at 19:30.

Dynamo: to go through Kharkiv path

Many Ukrainian supporters can’t forget the episode when Oleh Husiev suffered injury as the White-Blues faced FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. Fortunately Kyivans skipper is fine.

Meanwhile preparation for the match against FC Metalist Kharkiv is well under way. On a recent day journalists were present at Oleh Blokhin’s men training session. The White-Blues halfback Ognjen Vukojevic has told how they work in the run-up to important fixture:

“We are getting ready for the game in all seriousness. Everyone understands that we are in for a very difficult match against Metalist. Last week we defeated them in Kharkiv and demonstrated good play. We must perform the same way in Kyiv. Three points are vital for us”.

As for losses, it’s absolutely clear that Oleh Husiev and Yevhen Khacheridi won’t take the field on April 6. On the other hand Younes Belhanda and Vladyslav Kalytvyntsev have recovered from injuries.

Metalist: a matter of ambitions

It has been already told a lot about Metalist problems. They are unlikely to struggle for Premiership this season.

Las time the Yellow-Blues earned three points within the Ukrainian Premier League on October 30 2013 as the defeated FC Karpaty Lviv away.

Ihor Rakhaev’s men have conceded eight goals and scored five in three last matches which means they have serious problems with defense.

In this situation fans’ support and emotional factor are of great importance for Metalist.

As for the problems, question number one concerns goalkeeper. It should be also mentioned that Argentinean defender Cristian Villagra won’t feature against Dynamo because of suspension.
