Long-awaited second part of 2013/14 UPL started for FC Dynamo Kyiv with matchday 21 game against SC Tavria Simferopol.

Around the match

The White-Blues were visitors only technically as the game took place at the NSC Olimpiyskyi.

The match could have been cancelled but for decisive actions of Dynamo president Ihor Surkis, who afforded Tavria charter flight.

More than ten thousand spectators came to the main sports arena of the country. Special guests of the match were former presidents of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk and Leonid Kuchma.

Game aspects

As Dynamo goalkeeper Olexandr Shovkovskyi has suffered an injury Olexandr Rybka took his place. Defending line consisted of Danilo Silva, Yevhen Khacheridi, Aleksandar Dragovic and Yevhen Makarenko. Miguel and Denys Harmash played as supporting midfielders. Jeremain Lens and Andriy Yarmolenko were wingers and Younes Belhanda – second forward. Dieumerci Mbokani played as finisher.

38 minutes into the match Yarmolenko took a corner and Mbokani headed the ball in.

Early in the second half Kyivans doubled the score. Lens put a low cross into Tavria penalty area and Yarmolenko hit the target from six-yard box.

The White-Blues conceded in a stoppage time. Khacheridi passed to Rybka, but Burdujan snagged his pass, eluded goalkeeper and hit the open goal.

Key episode

Tavria played orderly for defense, but 38 minutes into the match Dynamo scored. Oleh Blokhin’s men used the set piece effectively.

Andriy Yarmolenko was Dynamo best player of the match. He’s got goal and assist to his name.

On March 16 the White-Blues will face SC Tavria Simferopol at the NSC Olimpiyskyi within the UPL matchday 21.

Dynamo: to feel the joy of football again

FC Dynamo Kyiv only aim this season is to struggle for Premiership. Kyivans are lacking only five points behind FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

This year Oleh Blokhin’s men had two training camps in Spain after which they faced Valencia CF within the Europa league round of 32.

After that Dynamo were to play against Shakhtar and FC Chornomorets Odesa within the UPL, but these matches have been postponed.

It wasn’t also clear whether the White-Blues game against SC Tavria Simferopol would take place, but fortunately all problems have been solved.

During the long pause Kyivans worked at their training complex in Koncha-Zaspa. They also played a friendly against FC Hoverla Uzhhorod there (3:1).

According to Dynamo head coach Oleh Blokhin our performers are in good physical conditions.

Players miss football already.

As for injured performers, they are Olexandr Shovkovskyi and Vladyslav Kalytvyntsev.

Tavria: to return the ship to safe heading

At the moment SC Tavria Simferopol are 15th in the UPL standings with eight points. After the first part of the season Bulgarian coach Nikolay Kostov took charge of the team.

He stated that Tavria aim is to secure the place in Premier League.

During the winter break Simferopol side had three training camps. The last one took place in Belek, where Kostov’s men won two friendlies – against FC Oktan Perm (4:0) and Vendsyssel (2:1).

So we are looking forward for Sunday evening when both teams take the field of the NSC Olimpiyskyi at 19.30.
