On July 20, FC Dynamo Kyiv played the 2022/2023 Champions League 2nd qualifying round first leg. The White-Blues faced Fenerbahce SK at the Stadion Miejski im. Wladyslawa Krola in Lodz, Poland.
Both sides started the game dynamically, but didn’t create real chances for a while. Even two corners in a row for Turkish side didn’t result in danger. But gradually things got more active.
Valencia attempted with a header after cross from the left side, but Bushchan reached the ball in the bottom corner. Another Fenerbahce attack finished with inaccurate shot by Yuksek. Kyivans didn’t just defend either. Tsyhankov took a free kick, Popov tried with a header, but that wasn’t a success.
Then, after fast wing attack and cross by Dubinchak, Besedin didn’t reach the ball just a bit. Verbic missed the target after pass from Kedziora. The teams responded to attack with attack. Kadioglu attempted from outside the box – Bushchan saved again.
In the second half football wasn’t less interesting. After cross from Tsyhankov, Popov unleashed another header, but the ball went over the bar. Sydorchuk missed from distance, Fenerbahce defender didn’t let Besedin score after cross from Verbic. Dynamo attacks were quite decent, but they lacked a bit to succeed. After pass from Buialskyi, Besedin aimed at the far corner, but missed again.
Fenerbahce responded dangerously too. Bushchan demonstrated his reaction after shot by Bruma from inside the penalty area. Then Besedin almost made visitors’ keeper commit a mistake, but that didn’t result in goal either.
So, the first leg ends in a goalless draw.
The second leg will take place on July 27 in Turkey.
