Andriy Yarmolenko: «For a club like Dynamo it’s always important to play quality football and achieve a result»

The Dynamo Kyiv winger Andriy Yarmolenko shared his expectations ahead of the Champions League second-leg qualifier against Hamrun Spartans.

- You recently said this would be your final season in club football. We recorded a long discussion with experts - and no one wants you to retire. How does it feel knowing this is your last season?

- Well, I already said it’s my final season - and I’m not going back on that. For now, yes, it’s true. My top priority is to give everything I have to help the team reach the Champions League group stage, win winning the Ukrainian league again and secure the Ukrainian Cup.

Right now, it’s not about me personally - it’s about the team’s goals and our performance. We’ll talk about me personally at the end of this season.

- Remembering the result of the first match, how will you approach tomorrow’s game?

- For a club like Dynamo Kyiv it’s always important to deliver quality football and achieve a result. That’s exactly what we’ll try to do tomorrow. The first game showed that our opponent is respectable - we have deep respect for them. But tomorrow is like the second half of the match.

Of course, the first-leg result matters - but we must go into the game fully focused and play our own football. Because it’s the start of the season, we need to build up our form.
